Day 2: Thu. Oct 15– HOTEL NIKKO KANSAI AIRPORT
Welcome to Japan! Upon arrival at either Kansai International Airport, complete the immigration procedures. After checking in at the hotel, take some time to unwind and prepare for the upcoming day. Put your feet up, relax, and get ready for the TOTTORI SAND DUNES & SHIKOKU TOUR.
Day 3: Fri. Oct 16 – HOTEL NEW OTANI TOTTORI
This morning, we’ll begin with a visit to Mentai Park Kobe, a fun and informative facility dedicated to mentaiko (seasoned cod roe). Learn about its production process, sample freshly made mentaiko, and browse a variety of unique themed goods. Next, we’ll visit the Birthplace of Miyamoto Musashi, the legendary swordsman and strategist renowned for his two-sword style and the Book of Five Rings. This quiet spot offers a moment to reflect on the spirit of bushido and the legacy of one of Japan’s most iconic martial figures. After a day rich in flavor and history, we’ll return to our hotel to relax and prepare for tomorrow’s journey.
Day 4: Sat. Oct 17 – MERCURE TOTTORI DAISEN RESORT & SPA (Onsen)
This morning, we’ll begin with a visit to the iconic Tottori Sand Dunes, Japan’s only large dune system, shaped over thousands of years by coastal winds. Walk along the sweeping sands and take in panoramic views of the Sea of Japan—an awe-inspiring natural landscape unlike any other in the country. Next, we’ll explore the Sand Museum, which features massive, intricate sand sculptures created by artists from around the world. Each year brings a new theme, turning the museum into a temporary gallery of stunning sand-based artistry. In the afternoon, we’ll visit Enchō-en, a beautifully crafted Chinese garden built to celebrate Tottori’s sister-city relationship with China’s Hebei Province. Stroll through its elegant pavilions, stone bridges, and seasonal floral displays, all set within a tranquil atmosphere. If timing allows, we’ll also enjoy an acrobatic show, where skilled performers display impressive feats of balance, strength, and agility—adding an exciting cultural highlight to our visit. Then, we’ll stop by the Tottori Nijisseiki Pear Museum, a one-of-a-kind facility dedicated to the region’s prized 20th Century pears. You may even get to taste a sample of the crisp, juicy pears that Tottori is famous for. Day 5: Sun. Oct 18 – MERCURE TOTTORI DAISEN RESORT & SPA (Onsen)
This morning, we’ll head to the sacred Izumo Taisha, one of Japan’s oldest and most revered Shinto shrines. Known as the “home of the gods,” this deeply spiritual site features grand torii gates, historic wooden structures, and a solemn atmosphere rooted in centuries of tradition. It is believed to be the gathering place of deities from across Japan, making it a powerful cultural and religious destination. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Adachi Museum of Art, internationally renowned for its impressive collection of modern Japanese paintings and its meticulously curated Japanese gardens. Awarded three stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan, the museum offers a seamless harmony between art and nature, providing a serene and inspiring cultural experience. Day 6: Mon. Oct 19 – FUKUYAMA NEW CASTLE HOTEL
This morning, we’ll visit Hiruzen Tancho no Sato, a peaceful reserve dedicated to the protection of the endangered Japanese red-crowned crane (tancho). Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Hiruzen Highlands, it’s a rare opportunity to observe these graceful birds up close and learn about ongoing conservation efforts. Next, we’ll enjoy a seasonal fruit-picking experience, harvesting fresh local fruits at their peak flavor, a relaxing and delicious way to connect with the region’s natural abundance. After arriving at our hotel, those who wish may take an optional visit to Fukuyama Castle, a beautifully restored landmark rich in samurai history. With its elegant stone walls and panoramic views, it offers a perfect way to reflect on Japan’s feudal past before settling in for the evening.
Day 7: Tue. Oct 20 – IMABARI KOKUSAI HOTEL (Onsen)
This morning, we’ll start the day at the Fukuyama Rose Park, one of Japan’s leading rose gardens, home to over 5,000 rose bushes representing hundreds of varieties. Strolling through this colorful and fragrant park offers a relaxing and picturesque start to the day, especially during peak bloom seasons. Next, we’ll travel to Imabari City to visit the Murakami Kaizoku Museum, where you’ll explore the fascinating legacy of the Murakami Suigun, the seafaring warriors who once controlled the Seto Inland Sea. Through dynamic exhibits and artifacts, you’ll gain insight into their unique blend of naval strength, strategic leadership, and samurai code. In the afternoon, we’ll board
a sightseeing cruise through the Kurushima Strait, part of the famous Shimanami Kaidō. This scenic boat ride offers stunning views of the islands, powerful tidal currents, and the impressive Kurushima Kaikyō Bridge, capturing the dramatic beauty of Japan’s inland sea. Day 8: Wed. Oct 21 – IMABARI KOKUSAI HOTEL (Onsen)
This morning, we’ll enjoy a refreshing mikan-picking experience in Ehime, a region famed for producing some of Japan’s sweetest and juiciest citrus fruits. Harvesting mikans directly from the orchard offers a hands-on way to savor the natural bounty of Shikoku. Next, we’ll explore Haikara-dori, a charming retro-style shopping street lined with cafes, souvenir shops, and nostalgic storefronts. It’s the perfect place to take a stroll, soak in local atmosphere, and find unique gifts or treats. We’ll then visit Ishite-ji, a historic temple and an important stop on the Shikoku Pilgrimage (Ohenro), a sacred route of 88 temples associated with the Buddhist monk Kūkai. Pilgrims in white attire still visit this site today, continuing a centuries-old spiritual tradition. The temple’s unique mix of ancient halls, stone carvings, and mystical atmosphere makes it a memorable cultural highlight. In the afternoon, we’ll head to the Towel Museum, a one-of-a-kind facility that blends the everyday utility of towels with artistic expression. Day 9: Thu. Oct 22 – OKURA HOTEL MARUKAME (Public Bath) or Similar
This morning, we’ll visit the Paper Museum, a city known as Japan’s leading center of paper production. Through exhibits of traditional tools, handmade washi, and local industry history, you’ll gain insight into the craftsmanship and innovation that have shaped this “town of paper.” Next, we’ll roll up our sleeves for a fun and flavorful udon-making experience. Guided by local experts, you’ll knead, cut, and cook your very own Sanuki udon, a beloved specialty of the region. It’s a hands-on way to enjoy Kagawa’s culinary culture and taste the results of your efforts. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Shikoku Aquarium, a beautifully designed marine facility showcasing the rich aquatic life of the Seto Inland Sea and beyond. From glowing jellyfish and vibrant coral reefs to powerful ocean species, the exhibits offer a captivating underwater journey. Day 10: Fri. Oct 23 – JR HOTEL CLEMENT TOKUSHIMA
This morning, we’ll visit Ritsurin Garden, a masterpiece of Japanese landscape design and three stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan, recognized as a destination well worth a special journey. Originally created by feudal lords during the Edo period, the garden features tranquil ponds, carefully sculpted pine trees, and elegant teahouses, all set against the picturesque backdrop of Mt. Shiun. A stroll through this historic garden offers a serene and refined experience of Japan’s seasonal beauty.Next, we’ll head to the Ai no Yakata (Indigo House), a cultural facility dedicated to the traditional craft of indigo dyeing. Located in a region historically known for indigo production thanks to its fertile soil and favorable climate, this area once flourished as a center for high-quality natural dyes during the Edo period.Here, we’ll take part in a hands-on indigo dyeing experience, creating your own one-of-a-kind piece using traditional methods. It’s a chance to connect with the history, artistry, and beauty of Japan’s iconic “Japan Blue.”After a day of elegance and creativity, we’ll return to our hotel to relax and prepare for tomorrow’s journey.
Day 11: Sat. Oct 24 – ANA CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL KOBE
This morning, we’ll visit the Awa Odori Kaikan, a lively museum and cultural center dedicated to Awa Odori, one of Japan’s most famous traditional dance festivals. Learn about its centuries-old history, costumes, and music—and if timing allows, enjoy a dynamic live performance where you might even get to join in the dance yourself. Next, we’ll take in panoramic views from the Tokushima Ropeway Observatory, located atop Mt. Bizan. From this scenic overlook, you can enjoy sweeping vistas of Tokushima City, the Yoshino River, and even the distant Seto Inland Sea on a clear day.In the afternoon, we’ll head to Tako Senbei no Sato, a fun and flavorful stop where you can see how crispy octopus rice crackers are made. Watch the live pressing process, sample freshly made senbei, and browse a wide variety of seafood-based snacks and souvenirs. Day 12: Sun. Oct 25 – ANA CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL KOBE
Today, we embark on a special Kobe beef tour. With exclusive access rarely granted to the public, we’ll step inside a Kobe beef cattle farm that has long remained behind the scenes. Here, guided by experts, we’ll uncover the true depth and strict standards behind authentic Kobe beef—learning about the careful breeding, feeding, and certification processes that make it one of the most prestigious meats in the world. The tour concludes with a tasting of premium Kobe beef, where you’ll savor its unmatched tenderness and flavor—an experience that offers both culinary delight and a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship behind this iconic Japanese delicacy
Day 13: Mon. Oct 26 – OSAKA - HONOLULU
At checkout time the guide will come to tape and tie-up the boxes and take the baggage to the airport. After check out we will head to Kansai international Airport and board flight # to Honolulu. We will arrive at Honolulu in the same morning. (Lunch and Dinner will be at your own expense.)
